Chief Justice Meaza Ashenafi addressing forum on a national law school curriculum reform

Millennium’s Feteh Activity is supporting institutions of legal education in Ethiopia to better prepare graduates for legal practice and build the capacity of legal and academic institutions to participate in legal and judicial reforms. Legal education can shape the future of the justice system, and at the center of the reform of legal education is the curricula. Feteh engaged Addis Ababa University (AAU) and Northwestern University (USA) to conduct a comprehensive assessment of the status of legal education in Ethiopia and review of the legal education curriculum. Based on the findings of the assessment, a draft framework curriculum was developed. Feteh in cooperation with the AAU and Ministry of Science and Higher Education has organized a validation workshop to enrich and validate this curriculum. Among those attending were:

  • Honorable Chief Justice Meaza Ashenafi, President of the Federal Supreme Court
  • H.E. Dr. Mulu Nega, State Minister, Minister of Science and Higher Education
  • H.E. Ambassador Degefe Bula, Director General, Justice and Legal Research and Training Institute
